Mainers have a lot to celebrate this season, and it’s not just because of the holidays...

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Maine people at McDonald’s locations across the state, $270,000 was raised for Ronald McDonald House Charities this year, according to WABI.

This is all because of the big hearts within Mainers.

According to their website, Ronald McDonald House Charities is a nonprofit organization who support kids and their families in need.

They want to provide a "home-away-from-home" for the families whose children are getting medical treatment at hospitals. Families can stay for free or at a low cost, and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, give families a comfortable space within hospitals.

The money that was raised is part of a larger $1.2 million raised across New England, and it’s all for families in need, as per the article.

According to the article, in Maine, this massive amount of money will go toward giving the home-away-from-homes for those families in need.

With Ronald McDonald Houses in Bangor and Portland, these funds are going to be able to cover a massive 2,700 free nights for families!

This will give them not just a place to stay but most importantly, peace of mind during terribly times.

As per the article, 2024 will mark a long 50 years since the first Ronald McDonald House opened, starting a lasting partnership with McDonald’s. This year’s fundraising effort highlights the kindness and generosity of Mainers.

Whether you enjoyed a Happy Meal or made a donation, thank you, Maine, for making a difference in the lives of families in need
