Time to rethink those take-out containers. As of yesterday, Governor Mills signed off on the bill banning Styrofoam containers.

According to the bill, the law applies to "Eating establishments" which according to Title 22 Section 2491 Subsection 7, includes restaurant industries, catering establishments, retail establishments and more.

According to Central Maine News, hospitals are exempt.

If a business or organization uses Styrofoam at any point from preparing the food to providing the food to customers, they could face a fine up to $100 as reported by News Center Maine.

The law will not go into effect until January 1, 2021.
