Move Over Spring, Central Maine is Getting a Whopper of a Snow Storm This Weekend
It has certainly been a strange winter here in Maine, hasn't it? It has not been the best year for snowmobile enthusiasts or people who just really enjoy a plethora of the white stuff. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that we've had more rain than snow this winter, but I digress.
Since Mother Nature has been into the boxed wine recently, it would make total sense that now that we are three days into the official spring season, she would decide to dump a pile of snow on the region. Thanks, ma.
According to WGME 13, this is going to be a pretty significant as far as snowfall totals are concerned. The news station explains that this storm system is going to move into the area overnight Friday into Saturday morning.
There is going to be, as there always seems to be, a mix in the precipitation, but that is likely to be limited to the Maine coast. The coastline is likely to see a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
The rest of Maine is slated to see all snow from this storm. Temperatures during the day on Saturday will hover in the mid 20s as the storm passes by.
As far as who is going to get the most snow in Maine, it looks like western Maine and into the mountain ranges have the highest possibility of seeing a foot or more of new snow. People in Central Maine can expect anywhere from 4-8 inches according to the WGME snowfall map.
As far as how long the snow will stick around, it won't be long. Temperatures heading into next week will progressively climb until we reach the low 50s by Thursday.
Is this winter's 'last blast'? I certainly hope so.
