Missing Maine Teen Found Safe; Man Arrested in Portland Apartment
After more than a week of searching, a missing 13-year-old girl from Pownal has been found safe, and a man wanted on domestic violence charges has been arrested.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says 13-year-old Jadelynn Harlow was first reported missing on October 6. Over the next several days, investigators worked tirelessly to track down any leads about her whereabouts. That search eventually led them to an apartment on Brighton Avenue in Portland.
Around 10 o’clock Tuesday night, deputies arrived at the apartment located at 470 Brighton Avenue. Inside, they found Jadelynn, along with 23-year-old Elijah Coleman and a 21-year-old woman, WGME reported.
Coleman was already wanted for probation revocation related to domestic violence charges, and deputies took him into custody without incident. Once he was in custody, investigators say they discovered several other potential crimes had occurred.
The news station said that Coleman is now facing a long list of additional charges, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, violation of a protective order, criminal restraint, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Deputies say Jadelynn is safe and has been reunited with her family. They have not released any further details about the circumstances of the case or how she came to be at the Portland apartment.
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active as they continue to gather more information about what happened during the time Jadelynn was missing.
