Do You Know How to Say Maine’s ‘Most Difficult Town to Pronounce’?
When it comes to cities and towns around the United States of America, there are thousands of places that aren't the easiest of pronunciations. However, I think Maine takes the cake (mmmm, cake!) when it comes to tough towns to pronounce.

Recently, a list from Reader's Digest was published that showed the most difficult town name to pronounce in each of the 50 states. And, before we get to Maine's most difficult, I thought we should check out some honorable mentions from some other New England States.
Worcester, Massachusetts
Definitely a tough one for sure. I always feel like it sounds kind of like that sauce that no one knows how to say properly. No, I'm not even going to try and type it into this article because I'm 100% certain I would frig it up.
For the record, this town is properly pronounced as 'wuh-ster'. Get it? Got it? Good!
Milan, New Hampshire
As someone who has spent their fair share of time in New Hampshire, I don't believe I have ever been to, or even heard of, this town. According to Reader's Digest, this town is not pronounced like Milan.

Instead, if you don't want to make yourself look like a fool in front of the locals, you'll want to make sure you're saying this the correct way, which apparently is, my-lynn, New Hampshire.
Quonochontaug, Rhode Island
I'm probably going to regret trying to explain this one because, admittedly, I also have no idea where to even begin with it. And, because of that, let's turn to the Reader's Digest explanation, shall we?
The publication goes on to explain,
It’s pronounced KWAHN-ah-kahn-tawg. Quonochontaug is a village that’s part of Charlestown, Rhode Island, which is located in Washington County.
Seboeis, Maine
Alright, let's dive into this gem now, shall we? I've lived in Maine my whole entire life and I'm now questioning everything I've ever known. Not only have I never heard of this little town, I apparently butchered my first attempt at properly pronouncing it.
According to Reader's Digest, Seboeis, Maine is a small town in the Pine Tree State that is home to only 35 people. Maybe that's why no one knows how to properly say its name.
The article explains that the proper way to say Seboeis is actually Seh-BOW-iss. Who knew?!
