Maine Waiter Leaves Mid-Shift, Returns With Food From Another Restaurant
Central Maine Idol is held at the iconic Quarry Tap Room in Hallowell, Maine, a perfect spot to enjoy the warm summer months with a beautiful patio and welcoming staff.
Every Monday during the summer, I host Central Maine Idol. Each week, I bring along my rockstar mother, Pam, who just celebrated her 74th birthday.
Last night marked week three of Idol, and Mom and I were having a super fun time. But at one point, she got hungry, and despite the yummy options on the limited menu for the event, she wanted something simple and small: French fries! Unfortunately, they weren't available.
Enter Brian King. Brian is a bartender at the Quarry and has been with the restaurant as their very first employee since its inception nine years ago.
Chivalry is not dead, ladies and gentlemen.
Here's why:
Brian knew that my mom was hungry, but his restaurant wasn't serving fries. So here's what Brian did (voluntarily, I might add). He called another restaurant down the street, and went over there to get fries for my mom. He walked over, bought them with his own money, returned, and served her.
Thankfully, I was able to catch this on camera!
I was astonished by his complete and utter gallantry. This is why the Quarry Tap Room is top-notch. The staff genuinely care about their patrons, and it shows!
