You know you're from Maine when you have certain select items in your fridge, pantry and liquor cabinet.

You see, Mainers are pretty particular (and admittedly a little weird) when it comes to the food and beverages we enjoy.

In Maine households, if you were to peruse their groceries, you'd likely find blueberries, Moxie soda, Allen's Coffee Brandy, Fluff and delectable whoopie pies.

As a matter of fact, Mainers love their whoopie pies so much that there is a whole festival just to celebrate them in the streets. And now, that same festival is set to return in June 2024.

The Maine Whoopie Pie Festival will be returning to Dover-Foxcroft on Saturday, June 22, according to their website. The festival, which will be the 15th annual, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

While at the festival, attendees will be able to try whoopie pies from various bakers as well as have the chance to vote for some of their favorite creations. The festival website shows more than 100 vendors and crafters will be on hand for the Saturday event.

If you plan on attending the Whoopie Pie Festival, organizers are reminding folks to follow the yellow signs which will guide you to park your car at the Piscatiquis County Fairgrounds.

Once you've parked, there will be convenient shuttle buses to take you right to the heart of the party!
