Winter Weather & Plowable Snow on The Way For Monday in Maine
It was just a day ago that I was lamenting on the radio about the complete lack of snow that the Central Maine region had received so far this year. Well now it looks like my complaining is being answered in the form of snow. How cool?
According to WGME 13, we are going to have a couple different 'bouts' of winter weather over the weekend. As we head into Saturday, the day starts out pretty mild as far as any precip, however, that all changes as we head into Saturday evening.

Much of Maine will get precipitation on Saturday with Western Maine picking up about a coating to 2 inches and Central and Eastern Maine primarily getting rain. A little mixing with sleet and freezing rain for Central Maine can't be ruled out, so be cautious if you have to go out on Saturday evening/night.
Here is a graphic that omits the rainfall and shows just the snowfall for the western and northern parts of The Pine Tree State.
How much snow will we get with the Monday storm?
Well, at this time (Friday morning), we're not exactly sure about snowfall totals for Maine. What we do know, per WGME 13, is that this storm is very likely going to drop 'plowable' amounts statewide.

The news station reports that the Monday storm, which moves into the state late Sunday night, will see the heaviest snow accumulations towards the coastline with perhaps a little bit less the more westward you live.
When does the storm 'move outta dodge'?
As far as timeline goes, this will be a storm that really 'lingers' through a good part of the day on Monday. WGME is reporting that the snow will be widespread across the entire state of Maine during the Monday morning commute.
The only benefit to the storm being on Monday is that there will be significantly less traffic than normal on the roads where it's MLK day. State offices, schools and other businesses are already planning on being closed that day.
As we head into the remainder of the week the big story is the temps. It's going to get COLD, so hopefully this snow actually sticks around for a little while. But, just like everything else in Maine, we'll have to wait and see!
