Maine Loses Ground in National Health Ranking
In a national study, Maine fell by four states in national ranking since last year when it comes to health. Last year, Maine came in 16th healthiest and this year we’re 20th.
The reasons for the drop are due to a number of things according to a 26 page report. Everything from immunization rates to cancer cases and more.
The report breaks counties down by healthiest and least healthiest.
The four healthiest counties are:
Sagadahoc
Cumberland
Hancock
York
The four least healthiest counties:
Somerset
Androscoggin
Aroostook
Piscataquis
The county where I live, Androscoggin is in the bottom four because of an increase in people who died before the age of 75 and because of high cancer rates in major part due to tobacco use.
