Maine’s Most Underrated Whoopie Pie Spots That Deserve the Spotlight
When it comes to New England style desserts there is one that stands out among the rest. Of course, we are talking about the world-famous whoopie pie.
Now truth be told, when it comes to these confectionary concoctions, there is nothing more satisfying than when you make a fresh batch at home and enjoy your homemade deliciousness in the peace and quiet of your own living room while you watch Wheel.
However, if you're like me, fat and lazy, you know it's so much easier to just venture out into public and pick up a whoopie pie that someone else has made. Of course this does mean that you have to put pants on, though it's still a small price to pay for the reward of a freshly baked whoopie pie.
But where did the world-famous whoopie pie get its start? Well, right here in the northeastern United States. According to Cape Whoopies, they say it's believed that the whoopie pie was first created by either Amish or Pennsylvania Dutch bakers way back in the early 1900s.
And, while no one seems to be EXACTLY sure where they got their start, one thing is most assuredly true- Whoopie pies are amazing and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
But where do you go in The Pine Tree State when you want the best of the best whoopie pies? Well, it turns out there are several different locations that people are say the 'best' spot and some of them you have probably never heard of.
