25 New Biking Trails Likely Coming to This Picturesque Maine Town
We're so very fortunate here in the Nation's Pine Tree State to be able to have hundreds of different recreational activities to choose from during all our crazy seasons. One of the most popular, yet least talked about, it mountain biking. People absolutely love mountain biking in Maine, especially when it's in the summertime down one of our massive ski mountains. Those people have a little bit more bravery in their blood than I do, that's for sure.
According to WABI TV 5, a non-profit group is looking to add 25 new biking trails in the beautiful Moosehead Lake region near Greenville, Maine. The group is called Moosehead Outdoor Alliance and they say they've come to an agreement regarding 15,000 state-owned acres of woodland called the 'Little Moose Public Lands Parcel'.
According to Rodney Folsom, Treasurer of Moosehead Outdoor Alliance, “If you’re a biker, the more places you can go the better. We’ve had a lot of support from these other groups has been huge, and them offering tips of how to proceed, how to go about things, saying that they would love to help organize some trail building, and this is what we’ve done, it’s been really great. We hope to make this happen.”
In addition to the use of federal grants, the group has also created a Go Fund Me page to help raise the additional funds necessary to build and maintain these potential new trails.
