New Hampshire Police Call ‘Fowl’ on Woman Trying to Save Ducks
Last week, Hallie Bibeau of Newfields, New Hampshire, called police after seeing ducks in the road. She was driving east on Route 101 and slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting some ducklings crossing the highway. She stopped on the median, got out of her car, and captured two surviving ducklings. Their mother and several of the ducklings had already been hit.
Bibeau called 911. A state trooper arrived and issued her a $100 ticket for stopping in the median. Police say medians are for emergencies only, and they didn't consider the ducklings to be an emergency.
By the way, the surviving ducklings were taken to a wildlife rescue in Maine.
