Part of Maine Under a Blizzard Warning Through Saturday Morning
We've known for quite a few days that Maine was going to see some type of a snow event on Friday of this week. And, for the most part, the snow totals didn't really shift all that much as we got closer to the storm developing over Maine.
However, when we checked this morning, there's one section of Maine, albeit fairly small, that is now under a blizzard warning from now through 1 AM Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, coastal Washington County, Maine, can expect to see blizzard or near-blizzard conditions throughout the day and evening on Friday.
The area is likely to receive upwards of a foot of snow with lots of drifting expected as wind gusts are forecasted to reach 40+ miles per hour.
Additionally, visibility may be extremely limited at times as snow continues to fall and blow simultaneously. The National Weather Service also reminds us that during blizzard conditions, travel can be 'extremely dangerous' to near impossible, so use caution if venturing outside in the area.
