Portland Expo to House Homeless Exposed to COVID-19
Because Portland's homeless shelters are already at their max capacity and with fear of coronavirus spread, city leaders have decided to use resources at the Portland Expo.
According to News Center Maine, the Portland Expo will be used as temporary housing for homeless individuals that have been exposed to COVID-19. However, the city says they can't actually force anyone to quarantine there for the recommended 14 days.
Authorities have indicated that several of Portland's homeless population have tested positive for coronavirus and though most are following recommended guidelines, at least one homeless woman has disregarded them and fled to Massachusetts.
