‘It is like summer camp for adult women!’ That is how I would sum up the experience for the Fall Skills Weekend ‘Becoming an Outdoors Woman’ (BOW).  This year it is the weekend of September 12 thu 14, 2014. And the weekend is filling up fast! This BOW Skills Weekend is three days and a series of workshops for women who are 18 and over held at the most beautiful Camp Caribou in Winslow. There are a total of four formal workshops for the weekend and other fun stuff as well like a campfire sing along!!

Now I am talking about things like hunting and shooting skills, ropes course, fishing, survival skills, using maps and GPS, camping, and camp cooking as well bird watching and some other less physically intense adventures. So, it fits all ages. BOW is expecting about 100 people and with so many workshops, we will be in groups of about 8 to 10 people.  For me, I will be leaning about maps & compass skills, campfire cuisine, freshwater fishing and trip planning & camping skills.

If you want to get away for a unique girls weekend, this is IT! The accommodations are really nice for being at a camp (even for a princess like me), the food is great, the natural beauty is breathtaking and the experience is one of a kind!  Becoming An Outdoors Woman!!  It is a BOW program through the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, just one of the many cool thing they offer to Mainers.
