Renee Nelson, who co-hosted the Moose Morning Show for 30 years, moved to the sunshine state back in 2021. Since then, Renee has been loving her new life in the sun as she lives about halfway between Tampa Bay and Orlando, Florida.

Bushnell is a small Florida community with a population of about 3,455 (Census Bureau). And, because of its proximity to Tampa Bay, Renee decided it best to ride out the storm in a hotel closer to Central Florida.

When we checked in with Renee this morning, we learned she had ridden out the storm on the top floor of a large Orlando hotel. Lizzy and I asked her how come she didn't try to go North and she told us that Florida highways were 'gridlocked' with traffic trying to flee the path of Hurricane Milton.

Renee went on to explain to us that throughout the night as the eyewall passed over Orlando, she could feel the entire hotel swaying back and forth in the wind. Fortunately, though many areas are experiencing catastrophic wind damage, flash flooding and power outages, Orlando, at least for now, seems to have been spared by the storm's wrath.

As Renee gets ready to pack up and head back to her home in Bushnell, we will continue to check in with her to get updates as to what the situation looks like closer to Floirda's Gulf Coast.

I think I speak for all of Moose Nation when I say we're just thrilled that she is safe from the storm. More with Renee tomorrow at 7:35. Hear the audio from today's check in below.
