Saturday, August 16 is ‘Maine Day!’
Gov. Paul LePage is proclaiming Saturday August 16 as 'Maine Day.' The Republican governor will join us just 7am today (Aug. 13) on the Moose Morning Show.
LePage signed the proclamation on Monday (Aug. 11) and is encouraging residents, businesses, towns and others to spend the day buying local food and beverages and coming up with other activities to celebrate Maine.
George Gervais, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, says that 'Maine Day' could have an impact on the state's economy over the years by increasing local food purchases.
'Maine Day,' an idea that came from citizens of the state, will be held annually on the third Saturday of August.
