Several Buildings Were Defaced in Downtown Augusta Thursday Night

According to the Augusta Police Department, several area buildings in Augusta's historic downtown district were the subject of blatant vandalism on Thursday night.

Police say, and show in photos, that several places were 'tagged' with spray paint by someone looking to deface downtown buildings.

Police go on to say that thank to a quick report from a community member in the area, Augusta PD was able to apprehend the person they believe is responsible for the vandalism.

Augusta Police Department says that if you're a local building owner and you notice that your building has been defaced, to promptly contact them and speak with one of the patrol officers.

Last night our downtown experienced an unfortunate event that resulted in several buildings being defaced. The great news is that we received a report from an amazing member of our community that resulted in the quick apprehension of the suspect by our patrol units. This person has been formally charged and transferred to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility. If you own a building in our downtown that was defaced and you have not talked with one of our patrol officers please give us a call at 626-2370. We will be sure to add you as a victim in this case.
