After removing the name Indians from the school, Skowhegan High School must now move forward with a new legacy. The school board has begun discussions on what the new mascot will be with superintendent Brent Colbry says the process will be similar to deciding a school's budget for the year. Some schoolboard members are on board with the selection process being decided purely by them, but others say that the students should have a say considering they attend the school.

Students, faculty, and members of the community will be able to submit forms on what they feel the name should be. The committees then will bring options forward for consideration. According to CentralMaine.com, up to five names be presented.

The next update on the Mascot will be on November 21.
