Maine Sports Pub Makes ‘Don’t Be Red Nick’ Shirts After Bad Google Review
No, I did not misspell the title, and that is why this story coming straight out of Lewiston, Maine, is so funny.
Sliders Sports Bar, located on 40 East Avenue, is a local favorite in Lewiston. The bar is a popular spot to catch the latest game, enjoy a yummy beer, and eat some classic bar fare.
But they recently found themselves the subject of an unwanted Google review. Thanks to the misspelling, the situation created more laughs than complaints.
Here’s what happened.
Owner Zach Donahue was checking up on the bar's reviews on Google and came across one stating,
"What a red nick place. Kids allowed in after. 7pm. No food after 9pm. Now wonder lewiston strong."
Zach's reply was good saying in part,
We run a very family friendly establishment and are proud of that. You've now embarrassed yourself on a public forum by calling our venue "red nick,"
However, the highlight of this story is what he created from the review.
Since we all know by now that the reviewer meant to say "redneck" but misspelled the word and wrote "red nick" instead, Zach's hilarious rebuttal was born.
He decided to make T-shirts proudly declaring,
“Just Another SLIDERS Red Nick.”
You can check out and purchase the epic shirts here.
The decision to print T-shirts is more than just a clever marketing idea. It also shows the bar’s sense of humor. They embraced the typo and made it fun.
So, the next time you find yourself in Lewiston, drop by Sliders, you are bound to have a great time.
Just make sure if you plan on writing a bad review, check your spelling first.
