Something Cool And Rare Is Happening In The Skies Over Maine Tonight
Tonight, June 20, is the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year. Yup, while Mondays generally seem longer than usual, this one actually was.
But there is something happening tonight that hasn't been seen in Maine since 1967 and it won't happen again until 2062!
Tonight, there will be a Strawberry Moon in the sky, and while it may be cool to picture a giant strawberry floating above Central Maine, that 'aint gonna happen!
Nope, it got the name "strawberry moon" from Native Americans, who used the June full moon as a reminder that it was time for the fruit harvest.
The Old Farmer's Almanac posted a video explaining the origin of the name.
