Central Maine will be seeing its first significant snow of the season this weekend as a winter storm watch has been issued by the National Weather Service.

According to WCSH 6 meteorologist Todd Gutner, we could get hit with our first real snow on Saturday night.

Intensifying low pressure will track across the Gulf of Maine late Saturday and Saturday night. Snow will breakout across the area during the afternoon and evening hours before tapering to snow showers by Sunday morning. The heaviest snow is likely to fall along the coast and Interstate 95 corridor...with amounts tapering off quickly as you head west into the mountains and Connecticut Valley. Some uncertainty remains on exact snow amounts as slight changes in storm track will result in higher or lower snow amounts across the area.
