The Portland Sea Dogs Will Open Their Season May 4th
One sure sign that spring and summer are on the way is the fact that baseball's spring training started in Florida this week. Yep, before too long, there will be dogs on the grill, beers being poured, and butts in the seats at Hadlock Field. The start of the minor league baseball season is less than three months away!
According to a press release from the Sea Dogs' organization, opening day will be May 4th. On that day, the Sea Dogs will host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Actually, their first six games (all home games) will feature them taking on New Hampshire.
Following that, they'll visit Hartford, before visiting New Hampshire.
Due to the fluid nature of the ongoing pandemic, there are still quite a few details that need to be worked out.
The press release says, in part:
As you can imagine there are still some challenges to overcome between now and May 4th. As noted in previous emails the safety of our employees, fans, and players remains our top priority. We are confident we will be able to safely host a reduced number of fans for games this season. We are still in the process of discussing reopening plans with the state for their approval and anticipate their decision will come at a time closer to our scheduled opening.
