This Scam Targets Fast Food Employees

According to WMTW, Bangor Police are investigating a scam that targets fast food employees.

The scam involves the scammer calling the restaurant, pretending to be from the chain's corporate office.  The scammer demands the employees make a deposit into corporate account.  The accounts, of course, are actually controlled by the scammer.

Clearly, you should always take extra time to verify the identity of anyone who requests you send them money.

Unfortunately, a Bangor restaurant fell prey to this scam over the weekend and some of the money ended up being transferred to a location where it cannot be traced.

Bangor PD is still investigating.
