It's every parent's worst nightmare; Realizing that you aren't sure where your kids are. As a dad of three boys I can only imagine the fear these parents must have felt when they realized their boys were gone.

According to WABI TV 5, the situation unfolded Wednesday in Glenburn, a small Maine town just West of Bangor. Officials say that two six-year-old boys were out back playing with a dog in the yard when they apparently wandered off into the wood and became lost. Police searched the area and found the boys more than 100 yards away from the yard they had been originally playing in.

Both boys were returned back to their parents and, other than being a little cold, were otherwise in healthy shape. This is a stark reminder of just how quickly children can wander away out of our sight. I feel for these parents who had to go through this as I can only imagine how agonizing each minute that passed must have been for them. I'm so glad this story has a happy ending and that local authorities were able to respond and locate the kids so quickly.
