Multiple Businesses in Downtown Waterville Shockingly Close Doors
Looks like more than one local business has announced they are shutting their doors to the public. Lebanese Cuisine and Paragon Shop will be no longer serving the community, according to Central Maine.
Lebanese Cuisine
After 44 years of being in business at 34 Temple St. in Waterville, Lebanese Cuisine, also known as "the Lebanese bakery," is closing, as Central Maine reports.
According to the article, the choice follows the passing of owner Laya Joseph earlier this month.
Laya's obituary highlights her as the bright light and backbone of sharing this delicious Lebanese Cuisine to the community for so many years. City Manager Bryan Kaenrath plans to acknowledge her and the bakeries contributions in his report to the City Council, as per the article.
Paragon Shop
As I said in the beginning of this article, not one but two closures are taking place not far from each other in downtown Waterville.
The Paragon Shop at 36 Main Street in Waterville closed last Tuesday. It was owned by Holly Towle for the past three years. As the article states, Holly plans to relocate to the retail area of Hawk's Nest Lodge, which is a business she recently acquired in West Forks.
She mentioned that the growing challenges and costs in downtown Waterville are factors in closing the shop. The Paragon shop was a boutique offering clothing, accessories, and lovely knick-knacks.
There you have it! The city of Waterville is now seeing two vacant spots available for purchase now. Property owners are now seeking new tenants to maintain the fun downtown vibe.
