When Mike Blanche, owner of The Bench in Gardiner, moved back to Maine from Virginia, he brought with him a great idea he hopes will catch on.  Give adults 21 and up a chance to get together to socialize and engage in some athletics on a more fun than seriously competitive level....

The Augusta Sports and Social Club is on Facebook and will soon have its own website. Their hope is to increase interest in this fledgling idea and give people a reason to get out of the house and engage in some fun, physical activity.

One of the things in the works right now is a sliding competition which is a perfect activity now that we have some snow on the ground and you're invited to be a part of it. So go ahead, like their page and be part of what has the potential of being a great group of like minded people in central Maine, just out to have a little fun!
