Beware, police are beefing up patrols for drunk drivers this holiday season. The story I'm referencing is out of Westbrook but still I'm sure statewide cops will out looking and waiting for people operating under the influence (OUI). Westbrook has added $10,000 to make the roads safer. There are only a few things I'm passionate about and one is curbing drunk driving.

I'm not going to research out the stats and give you all kinds of numbers, the fines and license suspension lengths but I will say, please don't don't do it. If you're unsure if you've had too much over the holidays and you brought your car to the party, stay awhile longer where you are or crash the night, not your car, or worse.

There is no fast way to sober up. Not drinking coffee, not taking a cold shower, the only thing that will sober you up is just good old fashioned time.

I'm not writing this to be a buzz-kill, ok, maybe I am but be safe and if I'm preaching to the choir, watch out for the others out there who are driving erratically on the road or "weird" over the next 10 days.
