It was 40 years ago today, January 15, 1975 that Space Mountain opened at Disneyland! Space Mountain was one of my first if not my first roller coaster. My first roller coaster was Space Mountain or The Matterhorn, either way it was at Disneyland in 1979 when I was 7 years old. I loved that ride, I think I made my cousin, Aunt or someone go with me like five times.

Space Mountain if it still is the same (and looks to be after watching the POV video) is a roller coaster indoors in the dark with special effects and sounds. It's not overly ridiculous as far as roller coasters go, I would say it may even be tamer than Excalibur at Funtown but it was awesome when I was a child.

The other roller coaster that stands out in memory that I loved, which is now defunct, was the Big Bad Wolf. The Big Bad Wolf was located at Busch Gardens in Virgina and was slightly different especially back in the 80s because the track was above you, similar to a zip-line.

Here are videos of both rides, Space Mountain and The Big Bad Wolf, enjoy. What is your favorite roller coaster?
