In a year when Maine traffic fatalities are tracking towards a new state single-year record, we're saddened to have to report on another one this Monday morning.

According to News Center Maine, a 26-year-old has died as a result of a single-vehicle crash that happened on Saturday.

The News Station is reporting that Carson Crocker, 26 of Blue Hill, was driving on Saturday evening in the Maine town of Blue Hill when he failed to negotiate a corner in his pickup truck and went off the road.

Officials say that the crash happened on Pleasant Street at about 8:15 in the evening. Reports indicate that Crocker's car travelled an additional 200 feet after it departed the roadway, subsequently hitting a 'large tree'.

News Center Maine was also reporting on Monday morning that the 26-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt when the crash happened.

And, though the crash is still currently being investigated by law enforcement, early findings indicate that excessive speed and alcohol were likely contributing factors in the crash.

This is a developing story and we will continue to keep it updated as more information becomes available to us.
