Two Women, Both in Their Twenties, Dead Following a Crash in Maine Saturday
According to News Center Maine, two women died at the scene of a Saturday afternoon crash in Caratunk, Maine.
Police say the crash occurred when the car the two women were in, was passed by a pickup truck. While the truck was trying to pass the women, it struck the car and caused it to lose control and crash into a tree.
Responding police say that the driver of the car, Jordan Merchant, 25 of Eastbrook, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 28-year-old Lindsey Walsh, of Massachusetts, was also pronounced dead. They were not wearing seatbelts.
The occupants of the passing truck, 33-year-old Eric Tankerley of Moscow, and his passenger, 34-year-old Daniel Reis, of Massachusetts, were not injured and both were wearing seatbelts.
News Center Reports that police believe speed and alcohol were both factors in this crash, though they're not specifying which vehicle this is in regards to. We will keep this story updated as more information becomes available.
