The Maine State Museum is hosting Donn Fendler for a special exhibit remembering his survival after nine days alone on Mount Katahdin at age 12 in 1939. He will be signing copies of the book ‘Lost on a Mountain in Maine.’

Fendler will appear at the Maine State Museum in Augusta Saturday, July 12 at 10:30 a.m. This free lecture will focus on Fendler’s boyhood misadventure on Mount Katahdin, where he was lost for nine days. July 2014 marks the 75th anniversary of this amazing journey. His story of survival is told in the book ‘Lost on a Mountain in Maine’ by Joseph Egan and in the graphic novel ‘Lost Trail: Nine Days Alone in the Wilderness’ by Donn Fendler with Lynn Plourde and illustrated by Ben Bishop.

Can’t make it on Saturday? You can still see the exhibit. Some of Fendler's personal items will be on display at the Maine State Museum all month.
