This Central Maine Restaurant Announces Abrupt Closing by the End of the Week
The closure of this trendy Lewiston restaurant came as a surprise to me. It feels like just yesterday when they first opened in downtown Lewiston.
Boba is the spot, and by the end of the week they are closing their doors, as per the Sun Journal. This was announced by owners Zach Pratt and Keshia Thanephonesy on Facebook.
The couple opened Boba on 97 Lisbon Street in 2019, according to the Sun Journal.
The closure has been suspected for weeks, and it's not the only spot that has had to close their doors. This follows the closure of Cowbell Grill & Tap back in March and the upcoming closure of J. Dostie Jewelers this February.
Boba described their reasoning for saying goodbye on Facebook, stating economic challenges, hybrid working arrangements, increased commission fees from third-party delivery services, and escalating operating costs as reasons for the closure.
"We have reached a point where we are unable to increase our prices to meet the demands of the market and cover our operational needs without compromising the affordability or product offerings that our community has come to expect from us."
I will surely miss the pho and bubble tea!
Boba does have two other locations in Old Orchard Beach and the Maine Mall, which will remain open.
However, the Lewiston location will close permanently this Saturday, December 16.
The patrons will be sad to see Boba go, as you can see by their Facebook presence, they were well-loved.
