As it actually turns out, you should leave it there. Yep, if you go to check your mail and you find a dryer sheet inside the mailbox you should seriously just leave it there. Unless you have a really strange neighbor playing a super-odd prank on you, the sheet was most-likely left there by your local mail carrier.

You see, every spring in Maine and around New England, insects and seasonal creepy crawlies begin to reemerge into our world. These include but are not limited to hornets, wasps and bees. I've heard of dryer sheets to deter mice from making nests in places like campers and boats over the winter, but I've never heard of dryer sheets deterring insects- but apparently it's a thing.

Obviously we don't want our mail carriers getting stung in the face while trying to deliver out DriecTV bills, so if you DO happen to see a dryer sheet in your mailbox one day, do your carrier a favor and leave it be.

We did a little bit of research to see if there was any scientific studies that proved the claim about dryer sheets and bees, and while there isn't any confirmation this actually works, there are several mail carriers that have written in online forums about this working in their communities.
