Facebook to Roll Out “Secret Crush” Feature
Facebook is getting in on online dating with their upcoming "Secret Crush" feature.
According to ABC7, you will be able to create a list of nine people you're crushing on. Maybe an old high school flame, a cute college classmate, that random guy/gal from the bar you were too nervous to give your phone number to but you thought social media would be safe, or that person that just recently got out of that long-term relationship and you think you'd make for a great rebound.
The good news is this list is completely anonymous unless one of the people on your list also puts you on their list. Then you're both alerted of the match and true love shall follow. Best case scenario, of course. Worst case, you end up super embarrassed and running into them at the grocery store becomes totally awkward. That's what we risk for love, right?
I feel like people will be all over this new feature. It helps take the guesswork out of dating and since it's people you already know, at least to some extent, it adds a level of comfort and security that traditional online dating lacks.
You will have to opt-in to the feature to use it and it's only going to be available to those 18+. No official release date has been announced but it will be available by the end of the year.
