Gavin James Shares His Top 5 Books That Your Little Should Read

If there's one thing you should know about my rambunctious little three-year-old it's that he absolutely loves to read. Reading isn't just something we like to do on occasion around here, it's actually something that we do every single night before bed.

Our bedtime routine, especially with three kids, is pretty much habit for everyone at this point. I'm not a believer in absolutely everything needing to be routine, but for bedtime I sure am. After dinner and some playtime, it's teeth, PJs, books and bed. Keri does the same routine with Dawson while I do the routine with Gavin. Evan is doing his own thing during this time because he goes to bed much later than the other two.

After Gavin is brushed and dressed for bed we head down to his room to pick out some books for the evening. We typically spend about 30-45 minutes reading before lights out so, depending on the length of the books, we'll read anywhere from 3-5 books a night. We also now have a new thing where after books he lays down and I tell him a story. He loves it when I tell him stories that involve him driving my truck or some kind of heavy machinery, Yes, he's all boy.
