The company's head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Tony Giampetruzzi, told the Kennebec Journal in part,

“Hannaford is committed to creating an environment that reflects the communities we serve and where people feel welcome, supported and entirely comfortable being their authentic selves."

Hannaford was one of only 545 other corporations nationwide that received a perfect score this year. The CEI says that they rate companies based on specific criteria. Some of the criteria includes, but is not limited to, nondiscrimination policies, equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and supporting an inclusive culture, according to the Kennebec Journal.
