Hannaford Supermarkets Receives Top Honor For LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion
We're no strangers to hearing about what a community-focused company Hannaford Supermarkets is. We cover multiple stories each and every year of the corporation finding new and unique ways to give back to the communities they serve. Now, the grocery giant is being recognized for its commitment to the LGBTQ+ community for a 12th straight year.
According to an article published by the Kennebec Journal, Hannaford Supermarkets has received a perfect score of 100/100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for the 12th straight year in a row.
The company's head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Tony Giampetruzzi, told the Kennebec Journal in part,
“Hannaford is committed to creating an environment that reflects the communities we serve and where people feel welcome, supported and entirely comfortable being their authentic selves."
Hannaford was one of only 545 other corporations nationwide that received a perfect score this year. The CEI says that they rate companies based on specific criteria. Some of the criteria includes, but is not limited to, nondiscrimination policies, equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and supporting an inclusive culture, according to the Kennebec Journal.
