High Speed Chase in Maine Ends With Driver in Custody After Crash
It was a wild scene that unfolded in Maine on Monday as the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a vehicle that was travelling in Windham along Route 115.
According to WGME 13, as deputies tried to stop the vehicle, it fled the scene and sped away. For a short time, police lost track of the vehicle but were able to pick it up again a little later on Route 35.
Police then decided it would be best if they stopped chasing the fleeing vehicle so they chose to pull back the pursuit. After that, the vehicle allegedly continued on Route 35 before eventually crashing at a nearby intersection.
The news station is reporting that the vehicle eventually crashed at the intersection of White's Bridge Road and Chadborne Road in Standish. Police arrived at the scene of the crash and were able to take the driver into custody.
Fortunately, the crash didn't involve any other drivers on the roadway. Additionally, the news station reports that the driver of the fleeing vehicle was uninjured in the crash. Police now say that they are reviewing the case for potential charges to the driver.
This is a developing story that we will continue to keep updated as more information becomes available or if any charges are filed by police.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
