How Did Cooper’s Daughter End Up In A Cast?
As a kid growing up in Northern Maine in the 1980s and 1990s, I did a lot of dumb and dangerous things. A LOT! Don't believe me? Just ask my mom.
As a newborn, I was involved in a car accident without being belted into a car seat. But, it was the 1980s, so it was okay. I got stabbed by rusty nails inside an old potato barrel, I caught my pants on a playground structure and hung there until my pants ripped, I blacked out when I fell off my bike, I fell off numerous snowbanks, I got pelted with ice snowballs... The list goes on, and on, and on...
But, no matter how many ways I got busted up, I NEVER broke a bone.
Well, it looks like my daughter Denise is not so lucky.
Over the weekend, she was playing basketball and, while trying to catch a ball, she bent her fingers backward.
Even though it hurt, she powered through it, finishing her basketball camp. She iced it and went on to get her dance pictures taken.
When I saw her, I was sure it was just a sprain because she was not screaming in pain and it did not look bruised.
Well, it looks like I am going to have to turn in the medical license that I bought on the internet because the x-rays seemed to show that it is fractured.
Now, there is a slim chance that the x-rays were wrong. Apparently, they call that a "Mach Effect". We will find out for sure later on this week. In the meantime, she remains in a cast.
Big thanks to everyone at MaineGeneral Urgent Care for being so awesome at what they do - and for being open on the weekends.
