A Lebanon man is recovering after being stabbed seven times during a violent confrontation Monday afternoon, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were initially dispatched around 2 p.m. to a reported disturbance on West Lebanon Road. While en route, they received an urgent update that the situation involved a stabbing and that the victim had already left the home, according to WGME.

Authorities later located the 52-year-old victim on Carl Broggi Highway. He was suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest, face, back, and head. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported him for immediate treatment.

The news station reported that the alleged attacker, 35-year-old Jeremy Potvin of New Hampshire, was arrested with assistance from the Berwick Police Department. Officials said the two men knew each other, but Potvin had arrived at the home uninvited, leading to the confrontation.

Potvin has been charged with attempted murder, and his bail has been set at $150,000. He is scheduled to appear for his first court hearing Wednesday at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed the victim sustained a total of seven stab wounds during the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Channel 13 says residents in the West Lebanon area expressed shock at the violence. “It’s unsettling to think something like this could happen in our neighborhood,” one neighbor said. Authorities remind the public that any tips or additional information related to the case can be reported to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about domestic and neighborhood safety in Maine, as law enforcement officials urge people to report suspicious activity immediately.
