According to the Portland Press Herald, interim Lisbon Police Department chief, and longtime member of the force, Ryan McGee, is now the department's permanent chief.

McGee, who has been with the department for nearly two decades, stepped into the role of interim chief when Chief Marc Hagan left the department in September.

Hagan left to take the job of police chief in Topsham.

As the situation for every police call is different, McGee explained that police should treat every person they encounter with compassion, saying:

It’s so important to treat everybody respectfully because you don’t know what they’re going through.  You don’t know their life story, or if they just had a medical issue or a death in the family. It’s not for us to judge.

One of his goals as chief is to bring back the Citizen Police Academy, which allows everyday people to learn more about what the department does and how they operate.

We wish Chief McGee all the best in is new position.
