Maine & New Hampshire Weather Turns Mild, Wet This Week

To be honest with you, we've been pretty lucky as far as snowfall goes this winter in New England. It seems like for the last few years, every time it would snow, it would be immediately followed up by temps above freezing and a warm day of rain.

This year has been quite the opposite, hasn't it? Not only has the Northern New England region gotten a decent amount of snow this winter, but it seems that each time it snows, we get some frigid temps afterwards that help to ensure the snow will stick around for some time.

As someone who lives in the Augusta, Maine area, it has been very refreshing to see people able to ride the snowmobile trails in this area without having to load up on a trailer and head 3 hours north to find enough snow to ride.

Additionally, Maine ski resorts have been operating a near capacity since December- this is great news for the Maine winter economy. However, we have now entered the month of March, and as you can imagine, with the change in month comes a change in weather.

While the start of this week has begun with old Jack Frost nipping at our nose, that will soon give way to much milder temperatures and even some rain as we head into midweek.

According to WGME 13, temperatures will consistently climb through the first few days of the week. We will see temps in the 40s on Tuesday and near 50 on Wednesday. With the warmer temperatures will come some rain.

The rain will start on Wednesday and carry into Thursday. WGME is reporting a potential for breaking river ice. And while this will be a 'soaking' rain, the news station says there is no major flood threat.

This is definitely a sure sign that spring is on the way!
