Saturday Morning Meteor Shower Brings ‘Fireballs’ to the Sky
Want to stay up late? Get up early? You could be rewarded with a meteor shower.
According to Travel And Leisure “the Earth passes through a narrow stream of space dust during its orbit around the sun, and this causes the Quadrantid meteor shower. At its peak, it can produce about 120 shooting stars per hour, lighting up as they strike Earth’s atmosphere at 26 miles per second.” And some of them can be rather brilliant. Travel And Leisure called them 'fireballs.'
It will happen early Saturday morning (Jan 4th) so the predawn hours are prime viewing time for this meteor shower. So for us in the east that would be about 3:20 a.m. Saturday morning.
