According to Maine Public Safety Spokeswoman, Shannon Moss, one person is dead following an early-morning crash on Interstate 95 in Bangor on Friday.

The accident happened at approximately 3:37 AM as a single vehicle, headed Southbound on 95 near Broadway in Bangor, struck a guardrail near exit 185 south. Authorities say that the 39-year-old driver, Anthony Monroe Sr., of Old Town was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Officials indicated that Monroe Sr. was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. The accident is still under investigation as Maine State Police are working with both Bangor Police and Bangor Fire Departments.
