Motorcyclist Towing a Trailer That Began to Sway Dies in Monday Morning Crash
In what has been a terrible year for motorcycle related fatalities not just in Maine, but across New England, there is yet another one to report on this morning.
According to WGME 13, a rider was pronounced dead at the scene Monday morning after the trailer he was towing behind his motorcycle began to sway, subsequently breaking off of the motorcycle and causing the bike to crash.
WMUR is reporting that the crash happened on Monday morning at about 10 am in the northbound lanes of New Hampshire's Interstate 93, near exit 41, in Littleton.
Police were able to identify, Kerry J. O'Connell, 66, of Lincoln NH, as the single victim in the crash. Sadly, O'Connell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials indicated that the crash was caused by apparent trailer sway, additionally citing that it seems as though the trailer being pulled was not properly secured to the motorcycle, based on New Hampshire's guidelines.
WMUR went on to report that officials are seeking people that may have information about, or witnessed, the crash. Anyone that has any information about the fatal wreck is being asked to contact Trooper Jeffrey Minicucci at 603-227-0067 or by email at jeffrey.s.minicucci@dos.nh.gov
