New Weird Al, “Word Crimes” – Grammar Pet Peeves
A new Weird Al video has been released. Today’s installment is a parody of "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke. The song is called “Word Crimes.”
It sort of makes fun of bad grammar online and other places but for the purposes of this, I’m asking you what your pet peeves are when it comes to grammar issues in reading status updates?
Quite honestly I don’t have too many because as they say, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Sometimes I accidentally leave out a word or write in sentence fragments.
If I do have a pet peeve or two when it comes to bad grammar in writing, “I seen” and double negatives come to mind.
What doesn’t bother me, that bothers some is taking the written language and turning it into oral dialect. For instance I’m okay with “yep” or “gah.”
