According to WMTW News 8, all Planet Fitness locations will begin requiring face masks on August 1st. As a planet fitness member myself, I can say that this won't affect me a whole heck of a lot. Primarily because I have been paying my monthly subscription for years and have only been about 7 times. However, I keep my membership because someday I'm certain to become so incredibly obese that I'm forced to finally start going. But only on the free pizza nights.

The company, which is based in New Hampshire, is led by CEO Chris Rondeau who said, "As we continue to face the COVID-19 pandemic, amid an ongoing global health crisis, wellness has never been as essential to our collective community as it is today. Given our leadership position within the industry, we believe it's our responsibility to further protect our members, employees, and communities so that we can all safely focus on our health, which is more important now than ever before."

Planet fitness is not the first corporation to circumvent government mandates and enforce their own mask rules. Companies such as Wal Mart, Sam's Club, Target, McDonald's and more all have similar policies. The only major difference here, is that patrons are actively increasing their heart and respiration rates while at the gym. My guess is that there will be some people who just can't workout with a mask on. And that's okay. They are doing what they believe is the best and safest thing for their members. And, whether you agree or disagree, they are a business and are entitled to create whatever policies they see fit.

Additionally, the gym has already begun implementing more social distancing measures, touch-less check-in, and a feature which allows mobile users to check the gym capacity before they even enter the building.

I guess at some point we'll all have to suck it up and deal with it because this quarantine fifteen isn't gonna lose itself.
