Okay, here’s a plot twist no one saw coming, but maybe someone should have. Snacking might have just gotten a little trickier for you, especially for people working in offices.

Why offices? Well, I clean them in my spare time and let me tell you, the number of nut-filled snack bags are on almost every desk.

Mainers love their snacks, and nuts hold a special place in all of our pantries. We love to hike and the one thing that goes well with that, other then bug spray, is our bag full of mixed nuts.

Nuts are kind of a big deal up here in Maine.

The Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company has issued an allergy alert for their Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias saying they are:

"voluntarily recalling Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias (0.6oz and 4oz bags), due to the possible presence of undeclared almonds and cashews."

According to the FDA, the recalled products were sold in Maine and other states.

If you're like, “wait a minute, this isn’t a big deal, I eat nuts all the time.”

It’s a big deal because the alert is for undeclared almonds and cashews, and that can cause life-threatening allergic reactions in some people.

Thankfully, as the report says, no one has experienced any issues because of this to date.

As per the report, the recall started after the company found that a batch of their product which was made by a third-party company had almonds and cashews that were not listed on the label.

They stopped shipping right away and told the manufacturer as well as customers. They also reported it to the FDA.
