I remember signing up for the Maine State Credit Union’s Virtual Feed ME 5K early in the pandemic when we were asked to stay at home as much as possible. I was SO happy to see that message in my inbox that day. I needed something positive that day.

I signed up and made my donation. I was walking every day with ShadowDog anyway, so let’s do some good too! Cheers to the Maine State Credit Union, switching from an in-person event to a virtual event quickly.

Typically, the Feed ME 5K is a real, in-person walk with all the fun stuff you would expect at a community event. I hope that we can all be together for 2021, hug each other and do this the good ol’ fashioned way…with people…lots and lots of people!

Of the over $45,000 raised goes to 30 different organizations helping to fight food insecurity in Maine.

But the Maine State Credit Union does not just have the walk; they also host other events like an auction, cash calendar, and a 12 Days of Christmas raffle.

Issues around hunger and food insecurity have been one of the things I have been very proud of our work over the years at our radio station. While all the issues that may lead to food insecurity and any social problems, hunger is an easy one for my mind to wrap around. If someone is hungry, you feed them.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the 2020 Maine State Credit Union Virtual Feed ME 5K.
