According to the Portland Press Herald, David Bragdon has finally met his father, following a search that began in 1988.

After a childhood friend informed him he was adopted, Bragdon petitioned the court to unseal his adoption records.  In them, he found the name of his mother.  Unfortunately, it turned out she had passed away two years earlier.  Over the years, using information provided by his aunt, he tried, in vain to locate other family members.

Finally, he submitted a sample to Ancestry.com.  That lead him to other relatives and eventually to his father, Wendell Sweatt.

Sweatt, who lives in Vermont, had been 16 when he had a relationship with Bragdon's mother, who was 34 at the time.  According to Sweatt, Bragdon's mother left after telling him she was pregnant and they were never in contact again.
